The SAT is a standardized test used nationwide by most colleges and universities as part of the admission process. It measures your skills in reading, writing, and math. It is meant to show how you come up with answers by analyzing a problem, hence showing whether you can apply what you have learned.

The SAT is divided into three core sections: Reading, Writing and Language, and Math. There is also an optional Essay, but most colleges do not require it. The total scores range from 400 to 1600, combining your Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing scores.

It helps the colleges gauge one's aptitude for academics and compare students from any other schools. It is usually taken by high school juniors or seniors. Preparing for SAT increases your possibility of entering into a college of your choice since SAT scores form part of the admission requirements to most universities.
